Call Information
Call: 2 tier system (1st Call/ lower level resident & 2nd Call / upper level resident).
First Call:
Begins after 6 months of training. Currently a modified float system - 12 shifts during weekdays done in two week shifts that swap day/night in about mid-month. Non-float residents in first call pool split the weekends/holidays in 24 hour shifts. Morning readout is at 7am / evening readout is at about 5 or 6 pm. First Call resident covers all emergent CT, Plain Film, Fluoroscopy and Nuclear Medicine studies.
Second Call:
Rotating 24 hour shifts in house. Resident covers Ultrasound (sonographer backup available if necessary), VIR, MRI and any questions from first call resident.

- 1357 (+/-24) per resident (5 resident)
- Non-plain film studies per 1357 hours: about 1500
- Call variation*: evening call (4-7pm) busiest with about 3 exams/hr. Night and 24 hr calls are similar with about 2 exams/hr

Second Call Analysis
Same amount of time on call split up q5 on weekdays and q5 entire weekends. Weekdays usually see one or two interventional procedures, MRI's or US's per call. Weekend days usually see two to three interventional procedures, 3-4 MRI and 2-3 ultrasounds per day.
